"As of this morning, we have uncovered previously hidden images and videos that show an individual, armed and masked, tampering with the camera at Nancy Guthrie's front door on the morning of her disappearance," Patel stated.
The grainy black-and-white images depict a person wearing a mask, dark gloves, a sweater, pants, and a backpack. Patel later released a 27-second video clip that showed the individual loitering outside the front door, and a 14-second video of the person covering the door's camera with foliage.
This new evidence sheds light on a previously unknown detail: a security camera at Guthrie's home had detected a 'person on camera' at 2:12 a.m. on February 1, but there was no video to accompany the alert.
